FICO PAN-UNITED COMPLETES LARGEST CONTINUOUS CONCRETE MASSPOUR IN HO CHI MINH CITY
Record breaking 10,000m3 PanU MassPour
On 18 Jan 2022, FiCO PanU successfully completed the largest PanU continuous concrete mass pour of 10,000 m3 PanU MassPour concrete by one single supplier for The Sun Tower at Ba Son District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
The PanU MassPour concrete reduced more than 1,980 tonnes of embodied CO2 emissions through the use of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) blended cement and special admixtures. This special design mix also reduced the heat of hydration of the 3.2m thick mass foundation.
Almost half of the concrete supplied was delivered from 2 batching plants located less than 7 km away from the project site.
“This saves the fuel consumption of mixer trucks and further reduces our carbon footprint. Our latest Command Centre powered by AiR technology has made the production process highly efficient. This includes centralised orders, batching plant and trucking fleet optimisation. The MobileCC Dashboard onsite monitors the progress of casting, making the job easier for the owner, consultant and contractor,” summed up by Mr Steven Loh, General Director of FiCO PanU.
He added, “The selection of raw materials and temperature control of the mixing ingredients are the critical factors in achieving the project requirements of a peak temperature less than 70°C to reduce the risk of thermal cracking. The special curing procedure adopted enables the differential temperature of less than 20°C to be achieved.”
“Teamwork is always the prerequisite for success, and we are proud to work with such a dedicated team to ensure the success of the mass pour,” said Mr Andreas, the project director of MACE.
More than 90 mixer trucks , 12 station pumps and 550 tonnes of ice were used to complete the PanU MassPour.
Mr Loh said, “FiCO PanU would like to thank the owner Masterise Homes, consultant TW Asia, project manager MACE and the contractor An Phong for their dedicated support to achieve this record-breaking 10,000 m3 mass pour at Ho Chi Minh City.”
